Frosty Surprise

Should have guessed earlier on in the evening that something was afoot when I spotted this gorgeous moon ...

Then later on after I had been asleep a few hours I woke up and could not settle back to sleep again so gave in and got up and decided to make a cup of tea, whilst I waited for the kettle to come to the boil I thought I would have a look outside... I was greeted by this......

So this was quite a frosty surprise...

Guess it explains why I had been feeling so chilled all evening and was very glad of the warmth of the duvet and my hottie earlier on.....
Such extremes in the weather... started off yesterday morning wet and windy, by early evening glorious sunshine and during the night cold and freezing..... maybe we will have snow soon??

Jack Frost took his paintbrush
as he sailed across the sky
so every morning as the sun comes up
his artwork greets the eye
there’s reds and gold’s and yellows
all of a breath taking view
but no matter how hard he tries
he can never make leaves turn blue
so when you’re in bed sleeping
and outside everything seems faint
just remember at midnight
Jack Frost begins to paint

Blimey - that's early for down here! I believe they've ahd soem snow up in Scotland, but I suppose we are heading for the middle of October already. We need a good really cold snap or two to do what the winter should, though - makes for healthier living all round. It's cold here, but no frost yet.

Thats what I though Leanne, it was a real shock to be honest. I have still not insulated my greenhouse. I am really behind with things. I must go and rescue my aloe vera plant and bring it in and get that greenhouse sorted... I expected a bit more time before the frosts began.
I agree a bit of a cold snap would be good. My Mum swears by them... she reckons a few good frosts kill the germs!!
Although I guess with rising heating costs we do not want it to be too cold either.....

Hi Jane

We had a temperature of 1 C lat night at about 1 am, but then a lot of cloud came over and warmed things up! So no frost...but its only a matter of time...

I have harvested today lots of stuff which will spoil if it gets below freezing though, just in case...it has been such a carp year for our crops I can't afford to loose anything, however small a quantity!

Nice photos btw....I like looking at other peoples photos...it makes a blog even more intersting sometimes!

Stay warm and well

Hi Tina, thank you so much for the lovely comment. I think your blog is great and I just love the crocheted curtain.. you are so clever. I will come back another time and look at more of your blog. I am up late and becoming very tired, so must get myself to bed.
I hope you enjoy the rest of my blog, not much history yet as I haven't been blogging for long.

Until next time...
